That song being the wonderful Nature Boy by Nenna Freelon. I know this is cliched, but I literally heard notes that I never heard before. First let me tell you the good things. Yes, the quality of the sound is excellent.
Like a new remote control on a new TV, yes, it does require some getting used to but we have had fantastic feedback otherwise. These are simply the best full-sized wireless headphones that I have heard.
The one minor quibble I have here is that it took me a bit of effort to figure out the pictograms in the setup manual. Mitigating that, Sennheiser includes a CD with the full manual on it and their web site has a downloadable version, too.
I think RS130 is analog sound and RS180 is digital sound. Sound quality is very good and no static background noise. If you are out of range, you get some chopping and then the signal drops off. I prefer this to the hissing I would get using the analog 140. I can't vouch for the range though; I have little reason to prance around with these. But as for upstairs and downstairs in the same house, no worries with these headphones.
While all genres sounded better than I have ever heard on a headphone, I found orchestra music to benefit the most from these. Male sure to check your/source. Guys if you are ever banished to the Man Cave and still catch hell for the TV or movie being up too loud......worry no more. I realize they are a lot of money (I managed to get mine for under $230) but I think in the long run they are going to be worth every penny.
You can listen to quieter things like dialogue without that annoying ever-present hissing though, thank goodness. I guess it all comes down to your source, but plugged into a good receiver they can work very well, especially if you turn them up a step. No interference issues with my home wireless (operates on 2.4-2.8 GHz auto selecting). They have excellent bass response that will actually tickle your ears, depending on what you are listening to of course.
After breaking them in for a couple of days, they fit my head like a large comfortable head glove. I've worn them already for hours on end with very little ear fatigue. Let me just say that he hasn't found the magical area where the sounds begins to fade. One of the best features of these headphones is that they are open, so even though nobody can hear what he is listening to, he can still hear what's going on around him. I have even stepped outside in the backyard with no problems. All in all great stuff, I would get them again. They work fine out on my front porch, though. I've used them in all the rooms in my apartment without any issues, including my kitchen which has metal cabinets.
